Valentina Paulmichl has been promoted to rights manager at the Madeleine Milburn Literary, TV & Film Agency (MMA), effective immediately.
Paulmichl joined MMA in 2021 as a rights associate. After graduating from City University with an MA in Publishing, she worked in the contracts department at Bonnier Books UK before moving across to the rights team as a rights executive for non-fiction first, and then as a senior rights executive for both fiction and non-fiction.
Paulmichl said: “After three wonderful years working alongside Madeleine and all our incredibly inspiring agents, I am so excited to be taking this next step at MMA. It is a daily privilege to be able to represent such talented authors and their stories around the world, and to have the best international partners to share our successes with. I am so proud of everything that the International Rights Department has achieved over the years, and I can’t wait to see what our future holds.”
Milburn added: “Since joining MMA, Valentina has shown an unyielding commitment to our wonderful authors, helping them publish into countless territories and reach truly global readerships, and proven herself to be a tenacious and assertive deal maker while also nurturing and developing relationships around the world. To cap it all, she is a wonderful colleague to everyone at MMA, sharing the MMA vision and ambition. Though she started in a fairly uncertain post-lockdown landscape, she is now heading a department that has never looked stronger. I can’t wait to see her steer it to even more successes.”
Since the start of the year, the MMA International Rights Department has closed 50 deals worth a total of nearly £1m.
