Lisette Verhagen has joined the Peters Fraser + Dunlop (PFD) books department as a full-time agent, taking up the position immediately.
She joins the department from her role as PFD's agent for David Godwin Associates, whose foreign rights are handled by the agency. While working there, Verhagen has built a fiction and non-fiction list with a strong focus on international writers for sale in the UK and around the world. Her clients include Palestinian writer and activist Nayrouz Qarmout and Dutch writer Hanna Bervoets, whose novel We Had To Remove This Post has been sold to 11 territories including Picador in the UK, on top of a major TV deal.
Also on Verhagen’s list is Dutch Poet Laureate Lieke Marsman, whose debut novel The Opposite of a Person will be published by Daunt Books in spring next year. Other authors she represents are poet Theresa Lola, Rachel Wilson and Eloise Moran.
Tim Bates, head of books at PFD, said: “I’m thrilled to welcome Lisette fully into the fold of the books department as a primary agent. Since Lisette joined PFD, she has been building a fascinating and diverse list of clients, across multiple genres, and with a real international focus. We’re looking forward to giving her the scope and support to further grow her client base, and I’m sure she’ll do many eye-catching deals in the coming months and years. I’m so pleased she has joined the books department full time.”
