Susanna Abbott, publishing director at Vermilion, an imprint of Ebury, is stepping down from her role at the end of July, prompting changes to the publisher’s "Self Hub".
Abbott joined Ebury in 2010 and has, according to the publisher, “been a key player in moving the wellbeing publishing space from niche to mainstream”, acquiring and developing authors such as Glennon Doyle, Brené Brown, Thomas Erikson, Marie Kondo, Angela Duckworth and Professor Steve Peters.
She said of her departure: “I’ve had a fantastic time at Ebury leading Vermilion and absolutely loved working with my impressive team, talented colleagues and inspirational authors. I’m really proud to have strategically grown Vermilion into the publishing powerhouse that it is today and of course I will miss Ebury.
“Having achieved everything I set out to do with Vermilion I’m ready for a new challenge – as I have learned over the years from my many wise authors, change and curiosity bring growth and opportunity. I am excited for what the future may bring, both for me and for the Self Hub.”
Ebury will now bring together the structure of its “Self Hub” – including Vermilion and Rider – under a single new leader. Recruitment for the new role will begin soon.
Andrew Goodfellow, Ebury publisher, said: “Susanna is a highly respected and industrious publisher, who has grown Vermilion into a powerful, trusted home for our authors. Beyond all this commercial success, on a more personal level, Susanna has also been hugely valued by us all as a caring and thoughtful colleague and manager. She will truly be missed, but her immense contributions to Ebury will live on through her many books and authors.”
