Vicki Mellor is leaving her publishing director role at Pan Fiction at the end of March to pursue new opportunities after seven years working with the company.
Mellor is planning to stay in publishing after leaving the company. Pan Fiction will soon be recruiting her replacement.
Mellor joined Pan Macmillan permanently in February 2018, following a year-long consultancy role. In her time at the company, Mellor has published some of Pan Fiction’s biggest international, bestselling brand authors including Ken Follett, Jeffrey Archer and Ann Cleeves, securing Cleeves’ first UK Number One paperback bestseller in 2020 and her first Number One hardback bestseller last year.
She has also acquired, among others, Sunday Times bestseller Jane Harper and, most recently, emerging Macmillan family brands Sally Hepworth and Catherine Mack.
Mellor said: “Pan Macmillan has been a wonderful publisher to work for and I will always be proud of what I have achieved with my authors and the brilliant wider team. But following an incredibly successful year for Pan, I feel now is the right time to find a new challenge and begin a new chapter in my life. I wish the team every success for the future.”
Pan managing director Lucy Hale said: “Vicki has brilliantly published some of Pan’s biggest brands to bestseller success, as well as bringing exciting new talent to the list. She has been a great colleague, mentor and all round wonderful member of the Pan team. We wish her well on her next exciting venture.”
