Digital content provider VitalSource Technologies has acquired the assets of learning and data analytics platform Acrobatiq, Inc., in a move it said would "dramatically" expand access to personalized digital courses for students.
VitalSource, part of Ingram Content Group, helps educational institutions and companies to create and deliver content, while Acrobatiq is a learning optimization platform. The acquisition of the Acrobatiq platform will provide VitalSource partners with a new way of creating and delivering digital courses that adapt to the needs of each learner.
Pep Carrera, president of VitalSource, said: “VitalSource already does more than just deliver learning materials. We empower students and faculty with the resources necessary to promote greater success. By combining Acrobatiq’s cognitive and data science-based platform with VitalSource’s valued relationships with publishers and institutions, we have an opportunity to bring high impact learning to the market at an unprecedented scale.”
Eric Frank, c.e.o. of Acrobatiq, said: “We have built a powerful platform that helps students learn. But the platform needs great content. Our customers want that content to come from publishers, open education resources, or to create it themselves. Often, they want to do all of the above in a single course. Being a part of VitalSource brings that possibility to life. And that, in turn, brings to life the possibility of the adoption of adaptive courseware at a scale that we could only dream about before.”
