The French Competition Authority has cleared Vivendi’s takeover of Editis, the second largest French book publisher, from Planeta of Spain for €900m.
The authority said it imposed no conditions to the deal because competition would not be impeded on the “several audiovisual and publishing markets reviewed.” Vivendi specializes in music, cinema, TV and video games. Before reaching its decision, the authority said it analyzed for the first time the markets for movie adaptations of books and book adaptations of movies.
The acquisition is expected to complete immediately.
