Diss Publishing Bookshop has been crowned Romantic Bookseller of the Year at the Romantic Novelists’ Association’s (RNA) annual Industry Awards. The Inclusion Award was given to Claire Wade and Boldwood Books was awarded Publisher of the Year.
The awards feature 10 categories celebrating the hard work and talent of any person, group or organisation who has championed the broad genre of romantic fiction in a positive way. The finalists were nominated by the RNA’s full and probationary membership, with a panel of independent judges selecting the shortlists and winners.
Hannah Schofield was announced Agent of the Year and Charlotte Ledger of HarperCollins won Editor of the Year. Lizzie Lamb won Indie Champion of the Year and Ripley Library was announced as the winner of the Library or Librarian of the Year category. The Cover Designer of the Year award went to J D Smith, while The Narrator of the Year was Anne Dover and the Media Star of the Year was Fiona Lucas.
Laura James, the organiser of the awards, said: "The task laid out before our panel of judges is never simple. The members are as passionate in their nominations as they and the industry professionals are in producing, supplying and promoting quality romantic fiction, so it is with great pleasure we salute and celebrate our 2023 winners."
Sue Moorcroft, president of the RNA and head judge of the awards, said: “I was bowled over by the excellence of the nominees for the RNA’s Industry Awards and thoroughly enjoyed the judges’ deliberations as they came to their conclusions. We have a host of wonderful winners, all connected to the bestselling genre of romantic fiction. It’s my pleasure to be connected to these prestigious awards.”
The awards have been held for nine years and this year were sponsored by ProWritingAid, a manuscript editing software programme. The winners were announced during the RNA’s Winter Party and Industry Awards ceremony, held at the Leonardo Royal Hotel London City on Monday 13th November 2023.
