HarperCollins Children’s Books will publish David Walliams’ third and final title in ‘The World’s Worst Children’ series in May with illustrations by Tony Ross.
The World’s Worst Children 3 will see Walliams present 10 stories about horrible children, from 10-year-old Hank and his endless pranks, to Tandy and her titanic tantrums. It will be published on 29th May in hardback (£14.99), e-book and audio in the UK and Ireland, as well as Australia and New Zealand.
The first title in the series was published in 2016 and has since sold 683,798 copies through Nielsen BookScan in the UK. The World’s Worst Children 2, released last year, sold 436,315 units.
HarperCollins Children’s Books executive publisher, Ann-Janine Murtagh, said: “David’s wonderful Walliams twist on the classic cautionary tale redefined the genre for a new generation. I’m always bowled over by the sheer energy and imaginative flair of David’s storytelling, which, combined with Tony Ross’s delightfully mischievous illustrations, have made these books absolute favourites with children across the globe.”
Walliams said: “I had so much fun writing these silly and surreal stories. I hope they will make my young readers laugh out loud."
David Walliams was the bestselling author of 2017 with £16.5m earned last year. In total he’s sold 13 million books for £73m though Nielsen BookScan’s TCM, with The World’s Worst Children 1 and 2 selling 1.12 million copies combined. His Bad Dad is currently shortlisted in The British Book Awards' Children's Book of the Year category.
