"Wednesday" actor Emma Myers is set to star in the BBC adaptation of Holly Jackson’s A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder as character Pip Fitz-Amobi, alongside Zain Iqbal as Ravi.
Created with Moonage Pictures, the six-part series, launching on BBC Three and iPlayer, will be filming in the south-west of England and will be adapted by Poppy Cogan and directed by Dolly Wells.
Caroline Stone, commercial director of scripted at BBC studio, said: "The world-class casting for this adaptation for television shows the impressive skills and ambition of both Poppy Cogan and our partners at Moonage Pictures to make this an unmissable series for audiences around the world.”
The synopsis for the series reads: "Five years ago, schoolgirl Andie Bell was murdered by her boyfriend Sal Singh. Case closed. The police know he did it. Everyone in town knows he did it. But smart and single-minded Pip Fitz-Amobi isn’t so sure and she’s determined to prove it. And if Sal Singh isn’t a murderer and the real killer is still out there, how far will they go to keep Pip from the truth?"
Jackson commented: "I am so excited that Emma is our Pip. She is phenomenal and this role was truly always meant to be hers. And we found our perfect Ravi in Zain. I can’t wait for us all to be able to watch their scenes."
Matthew Read, executive producer at Moonage Pictures, said: "We are very happy that Emma Myers is onboard to play our unique protagonist Pip Fitz-Amobi and we can’t wait to see the brilliant newcomer Zain Iqbal bring Ravi to life on screen in Poppy Cogan’s adaptation."
Fiona Campbell, controller of youth audience at BBC iPlayer and BBC Three, said: "In Emma and Zain we’ve found two actors who embody the characters so perfectly it will feel as though they’ve stepped straight from the pages of Holly’s books on to our screens."
