T M Logan's The Holiday (Zaffre) has jetted into the Weekly E-Ranking number one spot, displacing Adam Kay's This is Going to Hurt (Picador) a week after the junior doctor memoir achieved the longest ever run in the chart top spot. The Holiday was briefly priced at £2.48 for the week this chart covers, which, while still eligible for the ranking, seems to have given it a shot in the arm sales-wise. Bonnier performed a similar trick with Heather Morris' The Tattooist of Auschwitz, which after a short time priced at 99p, went on to claim the weekly e-book number one 12 times when returned to full price.
This is The Holiday's second week in the top spot, after claiming the top spot for the last week of July. Given the instant-buy nature of the e-book and the chart's tendency to reflect up-to-the-minute trends, it will be interesting to see if next week's chart, leading up to the bank holiday, shows a sales boost for the title.
Romance titles had a strong week, with Morris' The Tattooist of Auschwitz bouncing back into the top three, Celia Imrie's Not Quite Nice (Bloomsbury) enjoying a boost after a price drop, and Tessa Dare's The Wallflower Wager (Mills & Boon) making its debut in the top 20. Crime held its own, too, with new entries J R Ward's Blood Truth (Little,Brown) and Joshilyn Jackson's Never Have I Ever (Raven) and a re-entry for Lee Child's Past Tense (Transworld).
