Welbeck Publishing Group has acquired It’s All in Black and White: WHAM! Life and Friendship, the autobiography from 1980s pop duo Pepsi & Shirlie.
The book will tell their "incredible and enduring" story of friendship from the moment they met as backing singers for pop-group Wham! in the 1980s until today.
Ajda Vucicevic, editorial director for non-fiction, acquired world rights from Issy Lloyd at Insanity Management. Publication is slated for 30th September 2021, in hardback, e-book and audio.
Vucicevic said: "I’ve long admired Pepsi and Shirlie, so it is a dream come true to work with them on their book. They have the most extraordinary connection as friends that we can all learn from. They have been through so much, and I am so grateful they’ll share their stories with us. I know that fans and readers are in for such a treat."
Pepsi commented: "We have been inspired now to put our memories on the page after many years of requests, reminiscing of our time in the stoplight, on and off the stage. And shining a light on our friendship which has endured over 35 years which has been filled with love, laughter and loss."
Shirlie added: "I have sometimes taken for granted how lucky I have been and the experiences I have had throughout my life, especially those that have been with Pepsi. So being asked to write a book with her sounded so exciting as together we can share some wonderful stories of work, wardrobes and Wham!”
