Westchester Publishing Services has acquired River Editorial, the Devon-based provider of editorial and project management services.
Westchester Publishing Services (WPSUK) now offers UK and India-based full-service solutions, with client publishers able to choose between UK or India project management options, along with a full range of editorial services, combined with digital production.
River Editorial will trade as a division of WPSUK and its co-directors, Julie Willis and Rosie Stewart, have joined WPSUK as editorial and pre-press directors. They will retain day-to-day responsibility for River Editorial’s existing clients, which include Zed Books (Bloomsbury), Learning Matters (SAGE), Hodder Education, Fink Publishing and Pluto Journals.
In a joint statement, Willis and Stewart, the sole staffers at River Editorial, said: “This is an exciting opportunity for both River Editorial and our clients, enabling us to benefit from Westchester’s excellent reputation, longevity and extensive international resources. We are particularly pleased that we will continue to work with our existing clients, as well as helping Westchester consolidate and build on its already strong position in the UK publishing services sector.”
Westchester has more than 250 academic, educational, trade, specialist publisher and content-provider clients worldwide. Its UK clients include Bloomsbury, UCL Press, Lion Hudson, Edward Elgar and Pluto Books. WPSUK is a subsidiary of employee-owned Westchester Publishing Services LLC, which has been trading for more than 50 years and has offices in the US and UK, as well as a typesetting operation in India.
M.d. Tim Davies (pictured) said: “I’ve been an admirer of River Editorial’s conscientious and professional approach to their clients for some time. It was obvious to me from my very early discussions with Julie and Rosie that their approach was a close match to Westchester’s own, and that their respective broad experience and expertise would be valuable assets as Westchester develops its UK service proposition. I’m delighted and excited to welcome them to the WPSUK team.”
