Organisers of a crowdfunder for the White Review have stretched the target by an additional £6,000 after sailing past their original £10,000 goal.
The original fundraiser reached and exceeded its target of £10,000 in less than two weeks, as literary figures, writers and publishers rushed to help secure the magazine’s future. The literary publication is building on this momentum with a new £16,000 aim.
Included in the lengthy donation list is author Deborah Levy, writer and editor Francesca Wade, and editorial director of Fourth Estate Kishani Widyaratna. The largest named donation to date is from the T S Eliot Foundation, which pledged £2,500.
“We’re so thrilled to say that last week we reached our initial goal of £10,000,” the organisers said in a thank you message to supporters.
“To say that these are precarious times feels like an understatement by this point. It is clear that we will continue to feel the effects of Covid-19 (and Brexit!) throughout 2022. Reaching our stretch goal of £16,000 will support our programme for later in the year and allow us to introduce new events, workshops and opportunities for writers and artists. With your continued support we can aim higher.”
The White Review is offering a series of rewards to those who donate including book bundles from contributors, limited-edition art anthologies, translation and art portfolio consultations alogside subscriptions and issues.
