Whitefox Publishing has appointed Hannah Bickerton as managing director – a newly created role – after 13 years under its current co-founder and CEO, John Bond, who will be stepping down. Bickerton was previously marketing director at Whitefox and has a background in technology start-ups and educational publishing. Bond will be transitioning to the role of executive chair, where he will remain in an advisory capacity, handing over the day-to-day running of the business to Bickerton.
Bond was formerly group sales and marketing director and divisional MD at HarperCollins and MD at Penguin Books, before founding Whitefox in 2012 alongside former HarperCollins colleague Annabel Wright. In his time at the helm of Whitefox, he has brought "his extensive publishing experience and a visionary approach" to its development. In his tenure, he has overseen significant innovation in the industry-wide delivery of publishing services, "an unrelenting commitment to creative excellence, and a huge contribution to the evolution of custom and self-publishing".
Bond said: " We’re delighted to appoint Hannah to this new role of managing director, tasked with creating the next iteration of Whitefox. We undertook an extensive search and recruitment process, and the Board agreed that Hannah was the standout candidate. I’m hugely excited for the future of the business with her at the helm."
Bickerton said: "It’s such an honour to lead Whitefox into its next chapter, building upon the remarkable company that John and Annabel have established and grown. This transition comes at a pivotal moment, as Al reshapes our industry landscape, and, while embracing these changes and evolving to the needs of the future, we will remain steadfast in our core Whitefox values."

Whitefox has also announced a series of other appointments beyond Bickerton, with three internal moves, including Chris Wold, previously sales and business development director, who will become partnerships director, where he will spearhead the company’s expansion initiatives.
Julia Koppitz, who has served as editorial director since 2018, takes on the role of publishing director, assuming responsibility for steering vision, operations and outcomes for Whitefox’s portfolio of authors and clients across the editorial and commercial teams.
Silvia Crompton will expand her current role as editorial director to include the position of creative strategist, "widening the Whitefox suite for its corporate partners".
