Jess Whitlum-Cooper has made her first Bookouture acquisitions after joining the publisher from Headline in January, signing titles from Rebecca Alexander and Jessica Hatch.
The associate publisher acquired world all language rights including audio film and TV direct from the authors for three women’s fiction novels from Alexander and two “laugh out loud” standalone novels from debut author Hatch.
Alexander’s first book will publish this October, while Hatch’s first novel will be released in August.
Whitlum-Cooper said Alexander immediately swept her away to the Scilly Isles with her “beautiful, gorgeous and atmospheric” prose, and praised Hatch for her laugh out loud humour and “hilarious, heartfelt writing”.
Alexander said: “I’m very excited to sign with Bookouture, and have already forged a partnership with my lovely editor, Jess Whitlum-Cooper... The Bookouture team have been welcoming and knowledgeable. I can get back to telling stories knowing my beloved characters are in safe hands.”
Hatch said of her deal: “I’m over-the-moon grateful to have signed with Bookouture, a publisher that ‘gets’ and wants to celebrate my humorous, heartfelt brand of women’s fiction. I’ve been part of book publishing for half my life, since I was job-shadowed at Hyperion at age 16, and I’m thrilled to be seeing it, finally, from the author’s perspective.”
