Orion Spring has acquired a debut non-fiction book from television presenter and broadcaster Laura Whitmore: No One Can Change Your Life Except For You.
In the book, Whitmore will share her experiences of overcoming heartbreak, body image worries, self-doubt and insecurity. It is pitched as "a frank, heartfelt, inspirational and funny book" that "reminds women that the hero you are looking for is YOU".
It is publishing in full-colour hardcover in March 2021 to coincide with International Women’s Day. World rights were acquired from Alex Fisher at M C Saatchi Merlin.
Whitmore is best known for her roles hosting "Love Island", "I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here Now!" and MTV, as well as her own BBC Radio 5 Live series, "The Laura Whitmore Show". She also hosts "Castaway", a podcast about podcasts, and recently wrote and starred in the short film "Sabhdh". She has written for the Huffington Post, Grazia, Elle and Glamour, and her poem for International Women’s Day, "She", was shared widely over social media in March 2020.
Whitmore said: "I am thrilled to be publishing my first book with Orion Spring. They completely get the essence of what I want to say and this is a book that has been a long time coming. Writing has always been a passion for me, a chance to get lost in my thoughts and now I can share these thoughts with everyone."
Publishing director Pippa Wright said: "Our whole team fell in love with Laura’s brilliant writing and empowering message. Laura’s talent, her passion for making the world a better place and her heartfelt authenticity are the whole package, and we couldn’t be more excited to publish her debut."
