Little, Brown imprint Sphere has announced Clare Mackintosh’s fourth book will be "a novel about what happens after the unthinkable” called After the End.
Publishing in hardback, e-book and audio in summer 2019, it tells the story of Max and Pip, a couple who face the most impossible choice they could ever have to make, with devastating consequences. According to Sphere, it is "a novel about what happens after the unthinkable; after the end. And how the end can be the start of something new and unexpected”.
Lucy Malagoni, publishing director, commented: "A new novel from Clare Mackintosh is always a major event for the entire team at Sphere … It is a truly exceptional, unforgettable story and I can’t wait to share it with Clare’s readers in the UK and around the world."
The book follows Mackintosh’s debut novel, I Let You Go, which according to Sphere sold over 1 million copies worldwide and was the fastest-selling crime thriller debut in 2015 in the UK; her second novel, I See You, which after I Let You Go was also chosen for the Richard and Judy book club and voted the readers’ favourite of their respective selections; and her third novel, Let Me Lie, due out in paperback in December 2018.
Mackintosh's novels have sold in almost 60 territories combined. Sphere has promised early information about After the End will be shared with the author's option publishers at Frankfurt
