Headline imprint Wildfire has promoted Ella Gordon to commissioning editor following a string of publications including the widely-acclaimed Fleishman is in Trouble by Taffy Brodesser-Ackner.
Ex-Waterstones bookseller Gordon joined Headline to launch Wildfire with Alex Clarke and Kate Stephenson in 2016.
Currently assistant editor, she published Fleishman in June. TV rights for Fleishman have just been bought by FX in a 10-way auction.
Her list also includes the second book by Tom Phillips, Truth, which has sold into 11 territories so far and publishes in the UK next week, Goldilocks, by Laura Lam, “a brilliant feminist dystopian novel”, and The Mind of a Murderer by forensic psychiatrist Dr Richard Taylor.
Editorial director Stephenson said: “Ella has been a tireless champion of Wildfire’s authors from the beginning and is now proving herself as a perceptive and talented editor with excellent taste. She is most definitely a rising star in the industry, and we are excited to see how she will continue to build her list, with a focus on literary fiction and narrative non-fiction.”
