Sally Williamson, senior commissioning editor at Bantam, has been promoted to editorial director as the Transworld imprint’s fiction team expands.
In her new role, Williamson will report to Frankie Gray, publisher at Bantam, who said: “Sally has been invaluable in the growth and success of our commercial fiction publishing. Her astute editorial eye, market knowledge and strategic understanding make her an exceptional colleague. I can’t wait to see what is to come for her in her new role.”
Alice Rodgers, who joined the Transworld team in summer 2021 to cover parental leave, will be remaining permanently as commissioning editor. Her recent acquisitions include saga author Lesley Eames’ The Wartime Bookshop and TikTok romance Tell Me A Secret by Jessica Joyce.
She will report to Williamson, who said: “I’m delighted that Alice will be joining the Transworld team on a permanent basis. She brings professionalism, determination and creativity to every element of her work, and will be paramount in further strengthening our commercial fiction list going forward.”
Editorial director Francesca Best will return from parental leave on 20th June and resume working with authors including Jo Thomas, Lucy Dillon and Val Wood. She will continue to report to Frankie Gray.
The moves follow an announcement in April of a “strategy for future growth” at Transworld, including the launch of a new non-fiction imprint called Torva. As part of the changes, Transworld Publishers is now known as Transworld, while the Bantam Press imprint has become Bantam, with new hardback publications showing a Bantam logo from September 2022.
