Literary agency WME has been announced as the official sponsor of the Lucy Cavendish Fiction Prize after a “competitive selection process that saw pitches from multiple agencies”.
The partnership was kicked off at an event held on 10th September at the Groucho Club in London, and attended by representatives from Lucy Cavendish College and WME, alongside industry figures, members of the press and previous Fiction Prize winners.
The prize’s new logo was unveiled and 2025 judging panel announced: author, journalist, podcaster, speaker and presenter, Candice Brathwaite; publishing director at Orion and début author, Leodora Darlington; English director of studies at Lucy Cavendish College, Dr Olivia Krauze; and former vice president and honorary fellow of the College, Dr Lindsay Traub. The head judge is poet, playwright and novelist Kiran Millwood Hargrave. Gillian Stern will be a part of the mentoring sessions.
Dr Krauze said: "We are delighted to welcome WME as our new sponsor. Their commitment to supporting and amplifying diverse voices aligns perfectly with the ethos of our prize. This partnership will undoubtedly elevate the prize’s profile and provide even greater opportunities for talented unpublished women and non-binary writers."
Hellie Ogden and Matilda Forbes Watson, co-heads of UK Books at WME, said: “Winning sponsorship of the prize is a huge honour for us. We have big plans for a relaunch and extensive growth with events, partnerships and a mentoring programme in development. We are a home for exceptional talent and our expanding team of agents in London is excited to partner with the team at Lucy Cavendish College.”
The Lucy Cavendish College Fiction Prize will open for entries 4th November 2024. Aspiring writers are encouraged to visit the College’s website for further details and submission guideline. Past winners include Gail Honeyman, Sara Collins and Sarah Harman.
