Weidenfeld & Nicolson has appointed Lettice Franklin as commissioning editor.
Currently assistant commissioning editor at 4th Estate, Franklin has published, among others, books by Katherine Heiny, Claire Lowdon, Judith Claire Mitchell, Kit Wharton and Rivka Galchen and forthcoming fiction titles from Eleanor Henderson and Chloe Caldwell, as well as working on books by authors such as Joan Didion and Craig Brown.
She also launched 4th Shorts, 4th Estate’s series of A format paperbacks. She will join the W&N team in November.
Kirsty Dunseath, publisher of fiction at Weidenfeld & Nicolson, said: "Lettice has an incredibly smart approach to publishing. She thinks creatively and brings tremendous energy and enthusiasm to her projects. I very much admire the scope of her publishing vision and am looking forward to working with her immensely."
Franklin said: "I have loved every second of working at 4th Estate and will miss its wonderful team and authors enormously. I am however hugely excited about building a list at Weidenfeld & Nicolson, an imprint that I admire so much."
