Dominique Woolf’s Dominique’s Kitchen: Easy Everyday Asian-Inspired Food has been announced as the winning cookbook from Channel 4’s “The Great Cookbook Challenge”, to be published on 9th June 2022.
As part of the TV show, Woolf went up against 17 other undiscovered cooks over seven weeks to win a book deal with Penguin Michael Joseph (PMJ). She “consistently impressed” mentor Jamie Oliver and the series’ judges Louise Moore, m.d. of PMJ, restaurant critic and food writer Jimi Famurewa and award-winning recipe writer and author Georgie Hayden.
Moore said: “Dominique has written a book we all need. A book that will inspire us all to put the incredibly delicious and simple Asian-inspired recipes she has built over the years at the heart of their everyday cooking.”
Dominique’s Kitchen will feature everyday Asian-inspired meals “packed with excitement and flavour” with simple, accessible recipes, including those featured in the show, such as tamarind, honey and sesame chicken, roasted cauliflower with satay and Singapore-style tofu.
Woolf commented: “Ever since my Dutch grandmother, Granny Woolf, bought me my first ever cookbook, when I was nine, I’ve harboured a secret desire to write my own. I could never have predicted it would manifest in quite the way it did – I mean, we’ve all watched TV competitions, and the idea I would actually win one is quite mind-boggling.
“Like many of you, I know what it’s like to be busy, home late or over-tired, when cooking from scratch is the last thing on your mind. I wanted to show people just how easy it is to use Asian flavours in their everyday cooking. And – although not always necessarily traditional – I wanted to share the kind of meals I cook at home... I want to spread the joy of eating delicious food.”
