Dahmicca Wright, formerly marketing manager at Penguin Press, is joining Profile Books as its new marketing director.
Wright will take up the role later this month, reporting to Profile commercial director Claire Beaumont. Senior marketing executive Rosie Parnham and marketing assistant Angie Curzi will report to Wright.
Wright, who joined Penguin Random House UK in November 2018, started her career in the film and TV industry as social media coordinator, working with clients such as HBO, Agatha Christie and Warner Bros, before working her way up to marketing manager at Penguin Press.
At PRH she created and implemented campaigns for authors Emma Dabiri, Paul Mason and Malcolm Gladwell, and for poets such as Claudia Rankine. Her 2021 marketing campaign for Shon Faye’s The Transgender Issue won the Book Marketing Society award for adult non-fiction, and her 2020 campaign for Caleb Femi’s Poor won the award for Best Debut. She executed campaigns for Penguin Classics titles and brand, in addition to overseeing its digital strategy.
In 2018, Wright graduated from Oxford’s Creative Writing MSt, and was Poet-in-Residence at The Oxford Research Centre in the Humanities. Her poetry has been published in Wasafiri and The White Review.
Beaumont said: "Coming from Penguin Press, Dahmicca has immense creative flair and the literary depth to fit in perfectly working on the Profile breadth of titles. We can’t wait for her to start and properly put her mark on our awesome spring 2024 list […] Meanwhile there’s plenty of major marketing campaigns for her to immediately oversee this autumn, from Emma Dabiri, Mary Beard, Janice Hallett and of course more Murdle!"
Wright added: "After almost five enriching years at Penguin Press, I’m delighted to be joining the Profile Books team at such an exciting time of change. I’ve long admired their lists across non-fiction and fiction, as well as the creativity and innovation at the heart of their campaigns.
"I know we’re going to have a lot of fun together and I look forward to getting stuck into a brilliant line up this autumn and beyond."
Wright can be reached at dahmicca.wright@profilebooks.com from Monday 14th August.
