Oliver Wright has been appointed UK sales director for HarperCollins, taking over from Clive Kintoff who has been promoted to the newly-created role of publishing and operations director for fiction, non-fiction and Collins.
Wright has been retail sales director at IPC media since 2006 and has a broad sales background including both magazines and other consumer brands.
David Roche, group sales and marketing director, said: "We are delighted to have attracted Oliver to join our business. His breadth of market, retail and consumer knowledge can only enhance our sales capacity and his leadership track record absolutely speaks for itself.”
Wright said: "I am delighted to be joining HarperCollins at this time. The scope of the company and the role, as well as the dynamic nature of publishing and future potential of digital technologies makes this a very exciting opportunity.
"I know I am joining a great team and look forward to working with them to further develop HarperCollins sales in the UK."
Wright’s role will entail "building on existing business [and] exploring new channels plus strategic positioning of the HarperCollins brands” according to the publisher. He will take up the new role in early spring 2010.
