HarperCollins has created an expanded role for its UK and Ireland sales director Oliver Wright.
Wright will take on the new job of group sales director, responsible for UK and international sales and rights across the group, both in physical and digital formats.
He will report to group managing director Simon Johnson, who said the appointment was being made at a time of great change in the industry.
Johnson said: “Oliver has done a fantastic job transforming our UK and Ireland sales function over the last couple of years to what, I believe, is now the best in the market. Along the way, we have posted double-digit market share gains and integrated digital seamlessly into the roles and responsibilities of the team.
"The rate of change in our retail landscape is accelerating every day and, in this new role, Oliver will be charged with ensuring our sales efforts are optimised to achieve the best results for our authors and for HarperCollins.”
Wright said: "I look forward to working closely with the talented teams across sales and rights to build on HarperCollins’ excellent performance in all channels and markets. There is a fantastic opportunity to drive further growth by working together as one team, coordinating activities across all markets and formats.”
Wright joined HarperCollins three years ago from IPC Media.
