Yellow Kite has signed Hope is Coming, Louise Blyth’s “extraordinarily powerful” memoir of grief, gratitude and enlightenment.
Carolyn Thorne, editorial director, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from Cathryn Summerhayes at Curtis Brown. It will publish in hardback, e-book and audio on 2nd December 2021.
The publisher said: “Louise was just 33 when her husband George died from bowel cancer, leaving her with two boys under three. Hope is Coming tells the story of what happened in the weeks before George’s death, and what followed. Both George and Louise were strangers to faith. But a series of truly miraculous events in George’s final weeks brought them both a newfound belief—and helped the couple face death and grief together, with peace and confidence.”
Blyth, who self-published Hope is Coming in February 2020, said: “My wish when writing the book was that it would make people stop and think. I wanted people to wonder if there is more to life than meets the eye. Since the book first published, I have been blown away by readers’ responses and it has given me comfort to know that that our story is helping others. I’ve been forced to experience heartbreaking loss but through that I have gained faith. My faith is hope and that has kept me standing. I am thrilled that Yellow Kite are publishing my book to get it into the hands of many more people.”
