The Young Adult Literature Convention (YALC) will no longer take place in July this year but November due to ongoing building works at London Olympia.
YALC, which was founded in 2014 by former Children’s Laureate Malorie Blackman, will be held on 11th and 12th November 2023, part of London Comic Con Winter.
The YALC working group said: “Due to the ongoing building work at Olympia, we have made the decision to move the date of YALC 2023 to the London Comic Con Winter in November.
“Following feedback from the site move of YALC 2022, we feel confident that this decision will allow us to provide the best possible experience for our visitors, authors and publishers. We are looking forward to hosting YALC in the Olympia Grand Gallery which will give us space to house even more activities and attendees."
Over the years, YALC has hosted hundreds of authors, including many bestselling and award-winning YA writers including Alice Oseman, Alex Wheatle, Holly Bourne, Juno Dawson and Tomi Adeyemi. In 2020 and 2021 during the pandemic, YALC pivoted their events programme to a roster of online events to continue to connect authors and readers and returned to in-person events in 2022.
Tickets for the festival will be on sale later this month and the author event line-up is set to be announced in summer 2023. Submissions for author events will be open from March 2023. YALC hopes to resume to its usual three-day format in July 2024 once building works have been completed.
