Jillian Young has been promoted to publishing director for Piatkus non-fiction and Kate Byrne has joined the team as publishing director for Piatkus Fiction on secondment from Headline to cover Anna Boatman’s parental leave.
In her new role, Young will take strategic responsibility for the non-fiction list and continue to report to Zoe Bohm, executive publisher of Little, Brown Book Group’s Piatkus, Constable and Robinson publishing division.
Since joining Piatkus in 2016, Young has led its non-fiction lifestyle publishing, bringing titles such as Anna Mathur’s Mind Over Mother and Know Your Worth; I’m So Effing Tired by Amy Shah, Women; Food and Hormones by Sara Gottfried; Signs by Laura Lynne Jackson; and Sarah Bartlett’s Little Book of… series to the list.
Her 2023 list includes The Making of You by reality TV star Binky Felstead and journalist Stacey Duguid’s In Pursuit of Happiness to Walk Yourself Happy, the first in a two-book deal with TV presenter Julia Bradbury.
At Piatkus fiction, Byrne will be looking after authors Eleanor Ray, Julia Quinn, Christina Lauren, Sally Thorne and Penelope Douglas as well as looking to acquire new standalone romance titles for the list.
Byrne has been at Hachette for 16 years. She was the driving force behind the launch of its romance imprint Eternal in 2012 and took the reins of its Accent list with a focus on digital publishing into North America.
Her authors range from Jasmine Guillory, Lauren Layne and Jo Watson to Mazey Eddings, Erin Sterling and Mariana Zapata as well as numerous Headline and Review authors such as Christina Courtenay, Erin Green and Glenda Young.
