Bonnier Books UK imprint Zaffre has acquired two more books in Cathy Lake’s Country Village series, which began with 2020’s The Country Village Christmas Show and 2021’s The Country Village Summer Fete.
Claire Johnson-Creek, senior editor, acquired world English-language rights including audio for two novels from Amanda Preston at LBA Books.
The series, which is set around a quintessential English country village, will continue with The Country Village Winter Wedding, to be published in e-book on 23rd September 2021 and in paperback on 28th October 2021. The Country Village Allotment will follow in June 2022.
Lake is a pseudonym for Rachel Griffiths, who has written under her own name and as Darcie Boleyn.
Johnson-Creek said: "I am delighted to have acquired two more books in The Country Village series. Rachel writes with such warmth, heart and charm, whilst also tackling some big issues, providing readers with a gorgeous insight into village life. These books are an absolute joy."
Griffiths said: “It was such a delight to return to the cosy village of Little Bramble and to give more of the characters the opportunity to have their stories told. Claire Johnson-Creek is such an insightful and enthusiastic editor and I love working with her and the team at Bonnier Books UK. I’ve been delighted by the response to The Country Village series and can’t wait for readers to attend the winter wedding this year then to enjoy meeting even more characters at the village allotment in 2022.”
