Fiona Kennedy, publisher at Head of Zeus’ Zephyr imprint, has acquired a historical adventure YA by debut author Kat Dunn.
Dangerous Remedy, set in 1794 Paris, is about a revolutionary’s daughter who leads a band of outcasts called the Battalion des Morts. They save prisoners from the guillotine but their latest rescuee has dark and disturbing powers, meaning both the Royalists and the Revolutionaries want to get their hands on her.
The novel is the first in a series and will be published in May 2020.
Dunn said: “I’m so thrilled my debut novel has found its perfect home at Zephyr. In this turbulent political climate, I'm excited to share with readers this story of revolution and queer love. At its core, Dangerous Remedy is a book about choosing your own fate, and two girls in love; now more than ever, I hope readers can take heart from my band of outcasts and know that the power to make change is in each of our hands.”
Kennedy bought world rights to three titles from Hellie Ogden at Janklow and Nesbit.
