Manilla Press has announced that Zoe Yang will join on 12th February as commissioning editor.
Yang will report to publisher Sophie Orme, taking on responsibility for a number of the imprint’s established authors in addition to seeking out new talent to grow the list.
Yang previously worked at Orion for three years, rising up the ranks to become editor on the Trapeze list, before taking a break from publishing to complete a diploma in graphic design. At Orion, authors she worked with included Chloë Ashby, Diana Reid, Salma El-Wardany and Jendella Benson.
Yang said: “I’m thrilled to be joining Bonnier Books UK and to have the opportunity to grow the stellar list at Manilla Press alongside Sophie Orme and her team. I’ll be looking to acquire fiction from talented new voices and fresh perspectives across the spectrum of contemporary upmarket/literary crossover, including fiction in translation — from ambitious, knotty family dramas to dark, subversive literary thrillers.”
Orme said: “I’m delighted to welcome Zoe to Manilla Press at such an exciting time for the imprint. I was hugely impressed by her instincts, passion, market knowledge and breadth of experience to date and know she’ll be a huge asset to the team. I can’t wait to see what she brings to the list.”
