Indie publisher 404 Ink has sold audio rights of Chris McQueer’s award-winning Hings, and follow-up HWFG, to Audible.
Hings, a collection of Scottish short stories has become 404 Ink’s bestselling title, also winning the Saboteur Awards Best Short Story Collection 2018.
The sequel, HWFG (Here We F**king Go), has also drawn praise, with actor Martin Compston branding it “hilarious, heartfelt and utterly unhinged. Charlie Brooker on Buckfast”.
McQueer said: “I'm buzzing that Hings and HWFG are coming to Audible. Hopefully people will enjoy having my dulcet tones poured directly into their ears.”
The news follows the adaptations of three short stories from his debut collection for BBC Scotland, which went live on May 9th and are available on iPlayer.
Heather McDaid, 404 Ink publishing director, said: “It’s amazing that Chris’ work will be coming to audio via Audible – his stories are hilarious, brilliant and bizarre, and they work so well when read live on the stage. We can’t wait for more people to discover his work, both through his new TV adaptations and via audio.”
