Blink imprint 535 has acquired the first Royal Geographical Society Puzzle Book, telling the story of explorers through a set of increasingly difficult brain-teasers.
Joel Simons, senior editor at Bonnier Books UK, acquired world all languages rights from Alasdair Macleod, head of enterprise and resources at the Royal Geographical Society. It will be published on 3rd October 2019.
The “challenging, informative and entertaining Christmas tome” consists of 50 explorer profiles and expeditions retold through a series of questions. The book also includes a potted history of the society and includes references to the institution's work to advance geographical science.
Simons said: “I’m delighted to be working with the world-renowned Royal Geographical Society in bringing some of their most compelling and extraordinary stories to life in the first ever RGS Puzzle Book. It will be a wonderful celebration of the history of exploration and the perfect gift for map lovers, history buffs and geographers everywhere.”
The society added: “Drawing much of the content from the society’s rich historical and collections, comprising over two million items covering over 500 years of scientific exploration and travel, we are delighted to be able to bring this material to new audiences in this engaging way.”
