ACC Art Books (ACC) has signed a "photographic celebration of David Bowie" called Bowie Icon.
Chief executive oficer and ACC publisher James Smith acquired world rights to Bowie Icon from Iconic Images creative director Carrie Kania, a company that owns and represents photography archives. The book will publish in autumn 2020 to coincide with the fifth anniversary of Bowie’s death in January 2016. French rights have been pre-empted by Flammarion.
Bowie Icon will include nearly 300 images of Bowie, including photographs taken by Terry O’Neill, Geoff McCormack, Kevin Cummins, Brian Aris, Norman Parkinson, Masayoshi Sukita, Denis O’Regan, Alec Byrne, Chalkie Davies, Greg Brennan and others.
Smith said: “Arguably, no one had such a varied and vivid photographic image. Bowie Icon will cover more than 50 years of David Bowie as a visual icon.”
