Faber snaps up Call Me By Your Name sequel

Faber will publish the sequel to Call Me By Your Name by Andre Aciman, titled Find Me.

"In this spellbinding new exploration of the vicissitudes and varieties of love, the author of Call Me by Your Name revisits his characters’ complex lives in the years after their first meeting," the publisher said.

Editorial director Louisa Joyner bought UK and Commonwealth, excluding Canada, with exclusive Europe, and audio rights, from Lynn Nesbit at Janklow & Nesbit. The book will be published on 29th October. The news comes the same day as Joyner's shortlisting was announced for Editor of the Year at the British Book Awards.

In Find Me, Aciman shows us Elio’s father, Samuel, on a trip from Florence to Rome to visit Elio, now a gifted classical pianist. A chance encounter on the train upends Sami’s visit and changes his life forever. Elio soon moves to Paris, where he, too, has a consequential affair, while Oliver, a New England college professor with a family, suddenly finds himself contemplating a return trip across the Atlantic.

"Aciman is a master of sensibility, of the intimate details and the nuances of emotion that are the substance of passion. Find Me brings us back inside the world of one of our greatest contemporary romances to show us that in fact true love never dies," the synopsis reads.

Joyner said: 'It is an absolute joy to be reunited with Andre for this gorgeous companion to Call Me By Your Name. I still remember fondly the first time I read it, all those years ago at Atlantic Books, and to be working together is almost as delightful to to be reunited with one of his novels.' 

Aciman said: "The world of Call Me by Your Name never left me. Though I created the characters and was the author of their lives, what I never expected was that they’d end up teaching me things about intimacy and about love that I didn’t quite think I knew until I’d put them down on paper. The film made me realize that I wanted to be back with them and watch them over the years – which is why I wrote Find Me."

Faber published Enigma Variations, Aciman’s recent novel, in October 2018, and his memoir, Out of Egypt, in February 2019. 

Call Me By Your Name was published in 2007 by Atlantic and was later adapted into an award-winning film of the same name.
