Ad Lib has signed Martin Hibbert’s memoir, Top of the World, written with Fiona Duffy.
Editorial director Duncan Proudfoot acquired world all-language rights from Robert Smith at The Robert Smith Literary Agency. The book will be published in paperback, e-book and audio on 25th April 2024.
After the Manchester Arena bombing in 2017 following the concert by Ariana Grande, Hibbert was left paralysed and his daughter, Eve, was seriously injured. The publisher continued: "Wanting to create something positive out of the horrific experience, Martin scaled Kilimanjaro in a wheelchair, becoming the second paraplegic to do so, and raising £1m for charity. He has since become a leading campaigner both for victims of the atrocity and those with spinal cord injuries."
Martin said: "I’m not a religious person but I truly believe I was saved that night for a reason. I am determined to keep making a difference and thanks to Ad Lib publishing my story, I can now reach and help even more people. That cheeky little scally who nicked sweets from the corner shop when his parents couldn’t afford to buy them would never have believed this is how his life would turn out."
Proudfoot added: "Martin’s incredible story is one of remarkable courage in the face of terrible adversity."
