Ad Lib has signed The Boy from Block 66: The Children Saved from the Death March by the Buchenwald Camp Resistance, the "incredible" true story of Moshe Kessler, by Dr Limor Regev.
Publisher Duncan Proudfoot acquired English language print rights in the UK and Commonwealth, excluding Australia and New Zealand, Canada and Asia, from Tali Carmi at eBookPro. The book will be published in paperback on 4th January 2024.
"When I was introduced to Limor at the London Book Fair I was immediately struck by her account of the inspirational story of Block 66 in Buchenwald, a truly compelling account of Holocaust resistance and survival," said Proudfoot. "Moshe Kessler’s story will enthral readers."
Kessler was imprisoned at Auschwitz and Buchenwald when he was 13 years old. He is now 93.
Kessler said: "At my advanced age, I felt it my responsibility to preserve my personal story for my family and for future generations. I offer my sincere and heartfelt thanks to Dr Limor Regev for the beautiful way in which she has told my story.’
Regev added: "I have always been intrigued by the Second World War and the Holocaust, and this interest set me on course to writing my first book: the life story of Moshe Kessler, who survived Auschwitz and Buchenwald camps to tell his incredible tale. Moshe is the father of one of my closest friends. The hours of work and the joint journey which we embarked on while I wrote Moshe’s story has forged a special bond between us which endures to this day."
