HarperCollins is to publish the biography of singer Adele Adkins by Sean Smith on 17th November 2016.
HarperNonFiction publisher Natalie Jerome acquired world rights to the book from Gordon Wise at Curtis Brown.
In Adele, biographer Smith follows Adele's "astonishing journey to global stardom that began on the gritty streets of Tottenham". It features never-before-heard accounts of her childhood, the series of unhappy love affairs that inspired her record-breaking albums and the vocal injury that nearly ended her career.
Jerome said: "Sean is one of the UK’s top biographers who has a brilliant knack of shedding new light on his subjects. Adele couldn’t be a better fit for him – a global superstar of rare talent who given her level of fame still feels somehow elusive. With fresh insights from those closest to the star, this book is a beautifully packaged eye-opening read that will do much to reveal Adele as never before. It’s a must have for every Adele fan this Christmas."
Smith said: "Adele is a rare star who is both extraordinary and ordinary at the same time. I loved visiting her old haunts in London to discover more about her early years, her path to success, the people who have helped her and her amazing determination to be the best. Quite simply, Adele Adkins is a great story and I hope I have done it justice."
