Adele Parks has signed a new three-book deal with “perfect partner” HQ as she prepares to publish her 20th book in 20 years.
HQ publisher Kate Mills bought world rights from Jonny Geller at Curtis Brown for the three new titles.
Parks joined HQ in 2018 and her most recent book, Lies Lies Lies, delivered her first Sunday Times number one bestseller, shifting over 135,000 copies according to the publisher and 91,915 paperback copies through BookScan. She has sold 1.79 million books through Nielsen BookScan's Total Consumer Market during her career for £9.1m.
Mills said: "I’ve loved every minute of publishing Adele here at HQ. She’s writing the best books of her very brilliant career, and it’s been an absolute joy seeing her sales increase and the chart success follow. It’s also been hugely satisfying to see our colleagues at HarperCollins in Australia and the US building her sales, too. Adele’s a powerful storyteller and her books always deliver an extra something which is why readers love her. She’s very much part of the team here at HQ, so we’re all delighted we have so much more to look forward to."
Parks’ 20th novel, Just My Luck, billed as “a devastating story of how good luck tears apart a group of old friends”, will be released on 14th May 2020 in hardback, e-book and audio with a paperback to follow in December.
Just My Luck, part of a previous deal with HQ, forms the lynchpin of a year-long 20th anniversary celebration in which Parks will tour in the UK and internationally.
Parks said: “I could not be happier. It’s an utter pleasure and privilege to work with the stupendous team at HQ. They combine exceptional creativity with incredible business acumen. They manage to be at once sensitive and yet go-getting. It’s a joy to be a part of this hungry team.”
Geller added: “Adele is a role model for writers—her talent, enthusiasm, professionalism make her a joy to work with and a deserved number one bestseller. In HQ she has met her perfect partner and I can’t wait to help find even more new Adele Parks readers.”
