Chatto & Windus has welcomed a trio of new poets to its poetry list—Kaveh Akbar, Romalyn Ante and Leo Boix.
Forward-Prize shortlisted American-Iranian poet Akbar joins the Chatto list with his second collection, Pilgrim Bell, publishing in early 2022, in deal made by the Wylie Agency. Graywolf will publish in the United States. The collection features long poem, ‘The Palace’, that considers America and what it means to call a country home, was recently published in and illustrated by the New Yorker.
Ante, winner of the Poetry London Clore Prize 2018 and joint-winner of the Manchester Poetry Prize 2017, will publish her debut collection, Antiemetic for Homesickness in 2020.
Additionally, Leo Boix, winner of the Keats-Shelley Prize 2019, will publish his first collection in 2021.
Parisa Ebrahimi, Chatto & Windus poetry editor, said: “I’m honoured to welcome Kaveh Akbar, a poet I greatly admire, to the Chatto list. He joins two British-based poets – Romalyn Ante and Leo Boix – who to my mind are some of the best, new voices at work in poetry today.”
