Akoya has snapped up Book of Wills, and will publish the book in spring 2026.
Camilla Hagen acquired world rights from Reem Ghanayem with translations by 10 translators. The book will be a collectable hardback edition with artwork throughout by Palestinian artist Hazem Harb.
Written by 18 Gazan Palestinians amid the war in Gaza, Book of Wills is described as “a testimony of the human cost of war”. The anthology is compiled and edited by Reem Ghanayem, with introductions by Judith Butler and Alberto Mangual.
“Book of Wills explores the fear, desperation, heartbreak, anger, devastation, numbness and hope experienced daily by Palestinians, as they wake up unsure if this day is going to be their last,” the synopsis says. “Three of the authors have been killed in the war.”
Ghanayem said: “I wanted, through the book, to collect from the wails, the mourning and the cries the voices of those who are able to record the last moments.”
