Ebury Spotlight has acquired Face the Music by singer and performer Alfie Boe, scheduled for publication on 7th September 2023.
Senior commissioning editor Ru Merritt bought world all language rights from Vikki Josephs at LME Worldwide. The publisher describes the “hearfelt” memoir as Boe’s “unmasked truth for the first time ever.”
It goes on: “With unflinching honesty, he reveals behind-the-scenes moments from his career, the pressures this brought and how, through the challenging times, he learned more about himself than he ever thought possible. From being told in no uncertain terms by Queen Elizabeth II to not feed the corgis to Michael Ball mooning him from the theatre wings mid-performance, this is Alfie – both on and off stage.”
Boe said of the book: “Face the Music is a heartfelt insight into my journey so far, filled with untold stories from over the years. I wanted to demonstrate how greatness can come from challenges and how through obstacles we can all learn to grow. l’m at a place in my life where l’m ready to share more than I’ve ever done before and will hopefully help others in doing so. It’s been an incredible process working on this memoir and I’m incredibly excited for it to be out in the world."
Merritt said: “I couldn’t be more thrilled that Alfie has entrusted us to publish his entertaining and honest memoir. He’s one of the most-loved performers of today and it’s so easy to see why – his warmth, humour and kindness sing out from the page as he details incredible anecdotes from his career as well as how he navigated his more personal highs and lows.”
