Allison & Busby has signed two more books in Antony Johnston’s "charming" Dog Sitter Detective series.
Publishing director Susie Dunlop acquired world English language rights from Sarah Such at the Sarah Such Literary Agency. The first book in the deal, and the third in the series, will be published in hardback, e-book and audiobook in January 2025 and the fourth novel will following in January 2026.
"Allison & Busby has been the perfect partner in (cosy) crime, launching Antony’s wonderfully original and entertaining Dog Sitter Detective series so well and with such momentum," said Such. "It’s really exciting that Antony is writing two more novels in a pedigree series that has struck such a chord with readers."
Johnston’s cosy crime series features a retired actor and novice dog sitter Guinevere "Gwinny" Tuffel. The books follow Gwinny as she is pulled into various murder mysteries with her canine companion. The second book in the series, The Dog Sitter Detective Takes the Lead, will be publishing in January 2024 as part of an earlier deal.
Dunlop said: “We are delighted to continue with Antony’s charming series – the first book, published earlier this year, proved to be a hit with readers and retailers alike. With the second book, The Dog Sitter Detective Takes the Lead, out in January 2024, it’s wonderful to be able to announce a further two books will follow.”
Johnston said: "When I wrote the first Dog Sitter Detective book, I hoped readers would come to love Gwinny (and the dogs!) as much as I loved writing her. They really have, and I’m delighted to continue chronicling her murder-solving adventures into next year and beyond.”
