Allison & Busby has scooped a new "tense and fast-paced" crime novel from Daniel Sellers in a two-book deal. Lesley Crooks, publishing manager at Allison & Busby, acquired world English rights from Francesca Riccardi at Kate Nash Literary Agency to The Lollipop Man, the first in a two-book deal for a new crime series by bestselling author Daniel Sellers. Allison & Busby will publish in hardback and e-book on 20th February 2025. Sellers is the author of the Detective Lola Harris series published by Joffe Books.
The Lollipop Man is a tense and fast-paced crime novel set in a West Yorkshire of the early 90s that is still raw from the Yorkshire Ripper attacks.
Crooks said: "The Lollipop Man gripped me from its opening paragraphs and I soon felt like I knew Sellers’ characters intimately. I am so delighted that Allison & Busby will be the home for his latest novel, which proves he is an author to watch."
Sellers said: "I borrowed so many Allison & Busby titles from my local library in Leeds as a teenager, so I’m over the moon to be published by them myself. I can’t wait for readers to get to know Adrian and Sheila as they overcome shadows in their pasts to achieve justice in a Yorkshire community with plenty of demons of its own."
Riccardi said: "I’m so pleased that Daniel’s 90s-set thriller has found a home with the team at Allison & Busby. Daniel is a wonderful writer, and I hope that readers will love the nostalgia and warmth, as well as the darkness in The Lollipop Man."
