Thomas & Mercer, an imprint of Amazon Publishing, is to publish a new PI Matthew Hill novel by former BBC news presenter Teresa Driscoll.
Senior editor Jack Butler acquired world English language rights from Madeleine Milburn at the Madeleine Milburn Agency.
The book, yet to be titled, is a psychological thriller which tells the story of the Hartley family, whose lives unravel just as their "perfect" daughter Gemma is finishing university. Publication is scheduled for autumn 2021.
Driscoll's previous novels have all been published by Thomas & Mercer, including her first thriller, I Am Watching You, which came out in 2017. The latest deal comes just as I Am Watching You passes the one million sales milestone in e-book and paperback combined, Milburn said. The print edition has sold 24,386 copies through Nielsen BookScan's UK TCM.
Butler said: "I couldn’t be happier to be working with Teresa on this fantastic new book. Her success is a constant source of pride for the Amazon Publishing team, and it’s been an absolute delight to watch her deliver even more incredible stories and reach more readers with every release. We can’t wait to share her latest with them."
Driscoll added: "I’m absolutely thrilled to be working with Jack and the whole Thomas & Mercer team again. I pinch myself daily at all we’ve achieved together—with special thanks to my agent Madeleine Milburn who so brilliantly championed my genre switch to psychological thrillers."
