Kate Greenawy Medal shortlistee Chris Naylor-Ballesteros is to write and illustrate his first two books for Andersen Press, kicking off with a “Christmas classic in the making”, Tiny Reindeer.
Editorial director for picture books Sue Buswell bought world rights to the two titles from Jo Williamson at Antony Harwood. Andersen Press concluded deals for US and Italian rights just before the Frankfurt Book Fair.
Bradford-born, France-based Naylor-Ballesteros’ first book for Andersen is about a reindeer who can’t fined his place in the North Pole because he is too small for any of the jobs Santa gives him. But when a letter comes from a little girl with a Christmas wish to help keep the memory of her grandfather alive, Tiny knows exactly what he needs to do...
Buswell said: “Tiny Reindeer has created what is destined to become the next best-loved Christmas classic, featuring this endearing tiniest reindeer on a very big adventure.”
The title will be launched in the UK in October 2021.
