Andy McDermott’s spy thriller The Persona Protocol has been optioned for TV, while Headline has picked up another two books by the author.
McDermott’s spy thriller The Persona Protocol (Headline, 2013) has been optioned by Universal TV and One Race Productions for development as a television series, in a deal brokered by Robin Wade of Wade & Co Literary Agency. "The action-packed story sees Adam Gray—an agent implanted with experimental technology that lets him temporarily take on the memories and personality of others—hunting down a global terrorist conspiracy," Wade said.
Separately, Headline has acquired two more thrillers from McDermott, author of the 15-book series of Wilde & Chase adventures, which feature globe-trotting archaeologist Nina Wilde and ex-SAS soldier Eddie Chase. World rights to the first two books of the new series were secured by editorial director Toby Jones from Wade.
The new deal marks the launch of a fresh series introducing Alex Reeve, a member of the ultra-secret assassination unit known as SC9. Accused of treason, he goes on the run, hunted by the only people as deadly as himself: his own team-mates. Book one, titled Operative 66, is scheduled to be published in July 2020.
McDermott, a New York Times bestselling author, said: "I’m thrilled to continue my long and successful relationship with Headline on a brand-new series. Nina Wilde and Eddie Chase can finally enjoy a well-earned break from saving the world, while Alex Reeve steps up to the challenge. Developing new heroes and new storylines is always great fun, and with stellar backing from Toby and Headline I’m certain that Operative 66 will blow readers away with its action and pace."
Wade added: "When Andy first pitched the concept for this new series, we immediately knew he was onto a winner. His many fans have the roller-coaster ride of a lifetime in store."
