Angry Robot swoons for time-travelling romantasy from Costa

Angry Robot has scooped Shoestring Theory, a time-travelling cosy romantasy, from Mariana Costa.

Commissioning editor Eleanor Teasdale acquired world English language and e-book rights from Christabel McKinley at David Higham Associates. The novel will be published on 1st October 2024.

"I felt right at home immediately in the magical and zany world Mari created, and couldn’t think of better compatriots here than Angry Robot. Once again, the Cat Distribution System wins.

Shoestring Theory features a formidable great aunt, a friends-to-lovers-to-enemies-to-lovers romance and a crow familiar called Ganache."

Costa commented: “I started writing Shoestring Theory, and this is true, on my phone at an airport gate on four hours of sleep and a vague sense of euphoria. The necessity to tell a story about gay divorce was just that strong.”

Teasdale added: “Shoestring Theory was sent to me while I was in the middle of a million things to juggle but it legitimately shoved everything to the back of the queue from the first page. I am madly in love with everyone in it and am so excited to share it with readers."
