Little, Brown has landed an "epic mock-heroic" poem inspired by the pandemic from Armando Iannucci entitled Pandemonium: Some verses on the Current Predicament.
Publisher Richard Beswick acquired UK and Commonwealth rights, excluding Canada, from Clare Alexander at Aitken Alexander. Pandemonium will be published in hardback and e-book on 4th November 2021.
“Pandemonium is an epic mock-heroic poem, written in response to the pandemic with all the wit and brilliance that Armando Iannucci brings to his vision of contemporary events,” Little, Brown said. “It tells the story of how Orbis Rex, Young Matt and his Circle of Friends, Queen Dido and the blind Dom’nic did battle with ‘a wet and withered bat’ from Wuhan."
Iannucci plans to donate his profits from the book to Mental Health UK.
A political commentator, comedy writer and director, Iannucci is the creator of “Alan Partridge”, “The Thick of it” and “Veep” among other shows. He wrote and directed “The Death of Stalin” and “The Personal History of David Copperfield”. His previous books include musical exploration Hear Me Out, published by Little, Brown in 2016.
