Arrow has renewed its license to publish Georgette Heyer's Regency novels for the next 10 years and will begin a programme of cover reissues to be launched in the second half of 2018.
The deal for a 10-year license for UK and Commonwealth rights (excluding Canada) was done through Peter Buckman of the Ampersand Agency.
Arrow 's publisher, Selina Walke,r paid tribute to Heyer’s novels as “filled with living, breathing characters whose lives and stories leap off the page and whose conversations make one laugh out loud”.
“It is no exaggeration to say that Heyer is one of our best loved and most important catalogue authors, and is held in enormous regard by the likes of Stephen Fry, Katie Fforde, Cathy Rentzenbrink, Harriet Evans and India Knight, all of whom champion her writing,” she said. “Her novels are filled with living, breathing characters whose lives and stories leap off the page and whose conversations make one laugh out loud. It is now time to introduce her to an audience of new readers who too will delight in her wit, her extraordinary talent for historical accuracy and authenticity, and her very special brand of humour.”
Buckman added: “I’m delighted that Arrow will continue to champion Georgette Heyer, and am confident that the plans they have to promote her work will entice new readers to enter her captivating world, as well as enchanting her loyal fans, generations of whom have enjoyed her writing since she published her first bestseller in 1921, when she was 19.”
